TELFAIR COUNTY ROAD DEPARTMENT OPPORTUNITY
HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATORS
The position is responsible for operating a wide variety of assigned equipment utilized in the construction, repair, and maintenance of county infrastructure.
Major duties include, but are not limited, to: operating assigned equipment to accomplish planned or emergency Public Works construction, repair, and maintenance projects;
operating a variety of motorized equipment including, but not limited to, motor grader, back how, bulldozer, dump truck, excavator, and mowers; performing pre-trip inspections to assigned equipment or vehicle; checking brakes, lights, belts, hoses, fluid levels, air pressure, etc., reporting equipment or vehicle service, maintenance, or repair needs to immediate supervisor; reading and interpreting work orders; training other operators in the operation of a variety of equipment as assigned; performing various laboring and skilled, unskilled, or semi-skilled tasks at work sites when not operating equipment; responding to citizen questions and comments pertaining to work site projects; may perform traffic flagging duties at project sites to ensure a safe work environment as required, maintaining responsibility for assigned equipment or vehicle; cleaning and washing assigned equipment and vehicles; and performing related duties.
Knowledge and skills required include, but are not limited, to: operation and maintenance of assigned motorized equipment; construction equipment, materials and methods; traffic hazards and traffic safety principles, practices and procedures; proper lifting techniques and personal protective equipment; departmental and county policies and procedures; operation of motorized equipment as applied to public construction projects; comprehending and following safety rules and regulations; understanding and following oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions; performing a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines; and communicating effectively with others.
Minimum Qualifications include: ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent; sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years; possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

PART-TIME STREET MAINTENACE WORKERS

The City of McRae-Helena is accepting applications for five part-time Street Maintenance Workers. These are seasonal positions working approximately 28 hours per week (8 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday -Thursday) beginning May 3rd thru early fall. The positions are responsible for performing general maintenance and landscaping duties along City streets and City owned properties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experience using various landscaping equipment
A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a vehicle with a trailer is a plus
